Yesterday we decided we better start getting these kids (and ourselves) in hiking shape for the adventures to come this summer. So we took a hike along Lake Lowell. It was a fun little adventure to get us all in the exploring mood and a little sun. We’re all pink today, but not bad.

I’m glad we did it despite the sunburns and my poor judgement that caused me to slip and land heavily on my right thigh while climbing down an embankment, with Ez on my back. He was fine, but I’m really sore today. Gonna have to push through though, gotta get in better hiking/exploring shape, since Israel is only a few weeks away! -Tevya

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo

Before the days of Instagram (2006) I embarked on an incredible adventure under the guise of a college “study abroad” tour. I got lucky and had the most amazing people with me. It was a pivotal, transformative journey that lasted 5 weeks. I felt like a different person when I returned to college and the US. I learned much about people, expanding worldviews, overcoming fear, serving others, dealing with anxiety, and the growth and experience that comes through travel.

The lessons learned from that trip have remained with me to this day. A desire to see more of the world and embrace the chaos that comes with travel has been hidden within me. Occasionally it would burst out, but mostly I pushed it down and concealed it.

Recently Jill and I decided the time was as right as it would ever be to see more of this wonderful world we live in. We’re taking our family to live in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico (the last real stop on my tour) for 6 months! If we love it, we’ll spend a comparable amount of time in another place (Europe or Asia, most likely), and possible another place or two. It’s incredibly exciting and often terrifying.

Before we do all that, Jill, Ezra, and I are going to spend 10 days in Israel! That will be a lifelong dream come true in itself. Follow us here, to keep up on our adventures. My personal goal is to focus on one thing I’m grateful for each day, but to include the frustrations and trials that come with travel itself, family life, and growing my online business. “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”― Mark Twain
